Your blog posts don’t always have to be long

Many new writers worry about the length of their blog posts.

They feel like they need to hit a magic number of words to be taken seriously.

But that’s not true.

Have you heard of microblogging?

Platforms like Twitter/X and Tumblr thrive on it.

Not a paid Medium subscriber? You can read this for free here.

These are places where people write short posts.

Yet, they still connect with their audience.

Why?

Because what they share is valuable and interesting.

When I write for clients, I often recommend writing 1500–2000 words.

But that’s because their goals are different.

They need long-form content to rank well on search engines.

However, the truth is, it’s not the number of words that matter.

It’s the value you provide.

If you are just starting out, don’t worry about reaching a certain word count.

Write what feels natural to you.

Even if that’s only 100 or 200 words.

I don’t care much about being politically correct. Things are just right or wrong and yes, sometimes there are grey areas in this is why we write, don’t we?
