Lots of people on LinkedIn are selling “snake oil” prompting solutions for ChatGPT and other such tools.

They just want to sound “expertish” by making things look intimidating.

As the saying goes, during the gold rush in America, it was the people who were selling the tools who became rich.

During the initial days of blogging, most of the money was being made by people who taught you how to write and promote your blog.

The same is happening with ChatGPT “prompt engineering”.

They write humongous prompts that seem like chapters from Charles Dickens books. Don’t do that. They just want to impress you.

Keep your instructions simple. Write short sentences. Preferably, one instruction per line.

Another thing: almost every ChatGPT expert advises you to upgrade to ChatGPT 4. This is unnecessary especially if you want to use the AI tool for writing.

In fact, I have experienced that ChatGPT 3 is much faster and better for writing assistance.

Another thing: use AI tools like ChatGPT as assistive technologies. Human writers cannot be replaced by ChatGPT or Gemini. At least not yet.

I don’t care much about being politically correct. Things are just right or wrong and yes, sometimes there are grey areas in this is why we write, don’t we?
