Not having a common language is one of the biggest problems that ails our country. Our leaders were not farsighted. In fact, they were looking for loopholes that could be used to keep our country as divided as possible. If they were really sincere about uniting the nation, they could have come up with a way to establish a common language.

It may seem impossible right now, but where there is a will there is a way. I’m not saying that the common language should have been Hindi or any other language. But there should definitely have been a common language and then all the official records should have been converted into that language. It could have taken a few decades, but it would have been worth it.

Having said that, technology may come to our rescue. Apps like Google Translate can translate between languages in real-time. This may help demolish the language barriers.

I don’t care much about being politically correct. Things are just right or wrong and yes, sometimes there are grey areas in this is why we write, don’t we?
