I'm quite sceptical about some "expose" appearing in publications like The Guardian. Hit job.
I loved reading Jay Shetty's book and one thing that captured my attention was that he hasn't distanced himself from his roots – something that westernised "gurus" like Deepak Chopra very readily do.
Jay talks about Hinduism unapologetically and I think this is the main reason why these "exposes" have been published. He is a proud Hindu and doesn't shy away from expressing such an attitude. He hasn't needlessly secularised his beliefs.
I don't intend to defend him, but as a rule of thumb, if someone is being "investigated" by The Guardian, I assume the person must be doing something right.
