Writing for money

On Medium, most advice is about publishing content for views.

Those views then convert into money.

Medium supposedly pays you for every read.

It’s kind of like Netflix.

Premium members get access to valuable content behind a paywall.

Not a paid Medium subscriber? You can read this for free here.

Based on this, content creators earn depending on how many people read and for how long.

For the past 17 years, I’ve made my money writing for others.

Sure, I tried blogging and monetizing through ads and affiliate links.

But, somehow, my efforts never quite hit the mark.

They always fell short.

Sooner or later, I’d always get back to writing for others, and getting paid for it.

But when do people start paying you?

I’m writing this because, earlier today, I got an email, and then a WhatsApp message, from someone wanting to make money by writing.

I don’t pay much attention to how WhatsApp messages are written, but his email had 4–5 sentences.

Not a single sentence was grammatically correct.

I don’t care much about being politically correct. Things are just right or wrong and yes, sometimes there are grey areas in this is why we write, don’t we?
